BCA buying car without BCA Card? - Donce

I'm looking to purchase car form BCA Blackbushe, but I don’t have BCA card.

Do I must have cards or I can just go there and bid and take it home?

Or maybe someone who has BCA card can bid for me and buy car with one of upper range cards (Gold, Platinum) to save on premiums?

Thanks

Hi donce,
Are you sure you want to buy from BCA ,I buy cars to sell on ,I can't afford to buy from the large auction houses .
When you add the hammer price to the buyers fees ,that can be hundreds of pounds .The cars on offer can be bought cheaper on e bay or from online auction companies ,or even from car supermarkets .

Try visiting an auction house and make a list of the prices achieved ,plus the auction fee ,compare that price ,with the prices that similair cars are being sold for on autotrader and e bay .

I don't believe you can save money by buying at the larger auctions ,if you do need more information contact the forum again ,other members have commented on this issue previously .

I second the above, BCA are a complete joke especially for the private buyer.

Just to add detail to the above discussion .

I've just bought a Renault Clio 1.5 diesel expression 3 door ,2009 59 reg .the car is an oct 2009 so doesn't need an mot ,it has 63000 miles ,full service history ,it's the facelift model in a1 condition ,no extras . 3 months tax .just had a service .metallic silver .

I bought the car from e bay .the cost to me was £4500 ,transport back to west Yorkshire ,HPI cost etc cost £100 .total £4600 .

A typical selling price on autotrader £5500 / £6000 .

Why would you bother with auctions .?

We haven't answered Donce's question yet.

I've looked on the BCA website and the MyBCA card seems to be an option which gives you benefits, rather than something you require. Look on the website and you'll see some advice for anyone new to auctions.

That said, I agree with people above that there are probably better ways for a private buyer to buy a used car.

You dont have to have a card to buy. When you say take it away, bear in mind it will very likely have no tax or MOT and perhaps have tyres that are on the legal limit etc, so it will likely need to be transported. Add to that the cost of a service, MOT, buyers fees, etc etc it soon mounts up.

I visited Blackbushe several times last summer with a budget of around £7k wanting a diesel estate with reasonable miles and age. I reckoned I'd need to spend up to £700 in fees, service, MOT, transportation, tax, etc, on top of the uncertainty of buying at auction so I figured I was better off buying from a small cheap 2nd hand garage. Add to that the fact you are going to lose at least day's work (you may not even come away with a purchase), for me the final hammer price on a 3 year old diesel estate with 40 - 50k would need to be around 6 grand! Dream on....

Its kinda fun going along and seeing what happens, but I wouldn't recommend as a way to get a cheap reliable car.
