Air-con not working - meandering

The car is an 05 Focus TDCi, and the air-con is no longer blowing cold air.

I've just noticed it because of a couple of warm days this week.

It was working last summer, and seemed to be helping with the demisting during the winter.

It's been run for at least 15 minutes every week during its life, as recommended.

Diagnosis, action?

Usually just needs regassing ,between £60 and £80 to do .If not that a new compressor may be needed ,very expensive .

Getting it regassed first could get it working again. Aircon systems do lose refrigerant over time. If it initially works but then stops working, you're likely to have a leak somewhere, the condenser is prone - being at the front it's exposed to stones.

A decent aircon specialist will be able to do a diagnosis.

If this is the first of the new shape Focus models ,then I would strongly suspect that the a/c condensor rad has a leak.Very common on these early cars.hth

No, it's actually one of the last of the old ones. Does that change the likely diagnosis?

As this is a mk 1 model ,then it could be a different problem.Get it checked by an independent a/c specialist.Could be normal gas loss through age of vehicle.hth

I have found Kwickfit very good and cheap at testing/regassing aircon...
