vauxhall zafira 2.0d dti 2002 - intermittent limp mode light - smed706

hi all does anyone know why my zafira keeps going in and out of limp mode whilst making normal journeys here and there

the limp mode light will illuminate and the car will become sluggish

then after maybe 30 seconds sometimes longer the limp mode light goes off and the car then regains power

the car has been to many garages including main dealers but no fault codes are ever stored

My 2003 Astra 2.0DTI did the same. Needed a new EGR valve. No codes were stored on it either, but that's a common issue with the ECU on the Y20DTH engine.
