Toyota Granvia N Reg - Value/any thoughts - sawl

Hi there,

am looking for a cheapish MPV and have seen a Granvia with 80,000 miles, diesel, 3 litre engine, looks clean, N Reg, any thoughts on these? Thanks a lot, Matt

Don't believe that was ever officially imported into the uK. Must be a grey market import.

I believe it makes insuring it a little harder.

I asked the seller that (a car dealer) and he said that they are official and has never known of anyone struggling to insure. I think I better check it out myself though, thanks for reply, Matt

These guys reckon it's grey market. I don't think insuring it will be that difficult just cost you a bit more. Plus nobody will carry spares for it. You also may have some difficutly selling it on after your done. Still worth considering on the right terms.

The Granvia wasn't officially imported into the UK. It was sold in Europe though.

However it is effectively the MPV version of the Hi-Ace Powervan. The Hi-Ace Powervan was officially imported into the UK. So as regards spares, I would imagine that there is a degree of commonality between the Granvia and the Hi-Ace Powervan.

So it would be similar to things like the Fiat Ulyses MPV and the Fiat Scudo van

The majority of these vehicles are second hand cars that have been exported from Japan ,most are automatics ,check the v5 reg doc ,you should see a manufactured date of 1995/1996 ,and a different first registered date ,for example 2008/2009.The second date is the date the car was first registered in the uk.

Generally Import cars like these are in much better condition than equivalent uk cars, however their are problems .

The Japanese have a different HPI system to the uk .you could buy a car that's been involved in an accident or has been stolen in Japan .you could loose the money you pay for the car ,

Toyota dealers can supply parts for the car ,although they often have to e mail Japan ,to identify the parts required.

Generally ,they can be a good buy ,however you have to be extra cautious .

Good luck
