vw 2004 130 Passat Tdi - Boot wont open manually - nkosibob

my boot will open using the remote and the key, which is fine, but will not open from the drivers door switch or the boot latch it's self---------i have operated the key lock in the door but nothing---- i am presuming the switch must be faulty or just stuck in the locked position-----i may be wrong------can anyone help
