Suzuki swift 1.3 petrol 2008 - High tickover - gord115

Our Swift is ticking over at about 1150-1200 rpm, even when warm.
If it is left for about 5 minutes it settles to about 850rpm.
I've put a new air filter in and used some Wynns injection and carb cleaner.
Everything looks in good condition.
Any Ideas?

In the bad old days you would fine tune the tickover with a screw driver, these days no idea.

You say the RPM is 1200 rpm when warm, then you say it settles down to 850 rpm after 5 minutes?

Sounds like it hasnt warmed up yet therefore tickover is 1200 rpm.

Is it a cable throttle or drive by wire?

Cable throttle you can adjust yourself, drive by wire you need a dealer ,unless you have all the right kit and know what you are doing.

It is drive by wire, and car is at full operating temperature.

Someone has suggested idle control valve.

I've just got to find out where it is.

I've squirted some more Wynns Carb and injection cleaner in.

It must have worked its way through system 'cus car is now ticking over perfectley at 850 rpm.

Car sorted for £5.99,brill.
