vectra sri 2.2 direct - uel or coil - taz1000

when i start my car it will idle at 5000 rpm approx and when i try to rev it ,it will go up to about 9000-10000 then cut out after about 4-5 attemps it will eventually rev but reluctantly but when i drive off it will seem to shudder and sometimes cut out ??? also no lights on dash any ideas ???

Revs to 10,000 rpm and idles at 5000? Someone's gone at put a jet engine under your bonnet!

Coil pack failure usually is worse under acceleration. Bad idling and cutting out is more likely to be something to do with idle control valve, or EGR valve.

I'm guessing EGR.

update .......totally knackered no compression and vavles bent so new engine required any ideas where to get a good 1 or is it not worth doing ???

2.2 Direct isn't a common engine, so good luck getting a new one.

Sounds like time to weigh the car in. You should get £200 for it...
