Volkswagon polo - Occasionally wont start when warm - Haggis2012
Hi,

I've got an intermittent problem with my VW polo

It always starts fine first thing in the morning when it is cold but occasionally if i've gone out in the car and left it some where for anything from 10 minutes to a couple of hours it takes half a dozen attempts to start. Whe it does start it sits at about 500 rpm for about 10 - 20 seconds regardless of whether i press the accelerator then it fires up properly and works fine. It only happens intermittently, i took it to a garage but they couldn't replicate the problem and charged me a lot of money to find nothing. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks

I would start by replacing the engine coolant temp sensor. An inaccurate reading on these can cause all types of starting/running issurs.A cheap and easy job.hth

Thats exactly what is happening with my 2002 VW Polo, its driving me nuts.

and currently with a mechanic who cant find a problem with it! Cause, as said above it wont replicate the problem so the mechanic cant diagnose whats wrong if it doesnt stuff up for him!!!

its so frustrating!
