Our V reg 1999 Astra automatic has been fantastically reliable. It has now done approx 79,000 miles. From Oct 2011 we switched to using "super" unleaded only. Since then on 4 occasions the car stalled when approaching a junction. Before Christmas we switched back to using ordinary unleaded but the vehicle stalled again at the weekend. Is it possible that the switch to super unleaded has been the cause or should we looking at other cause?

Clean the throttle body - they do gradually get gunged up (technical term that) with oil fumes from the crankcase breather and it causes the throttle to stick.

In severe cases the stepper motor in the throttle body can fail but try cleaning first
