What's the best way to remov the rubber seal/boot on the headlight bulb? I don't want to rip it and it looks very snug. All suggestions welcome ... especuially from someone who's actually done it!

I had a 2003 Mazda 323. Remove the connector from the bulb. The rubber boot should just pull away (towards the engine) from the headlight unit and expose the fold down metal clip that holds the bulb in place. Please note that when replacing the rubber boot, the boot should have the word 'TOP' moulded into the rubber, and this indicates which way round the boot fits.

Thanks for the explanation. I took the rubber boot and headlight out but the buld looked so snug that I thought it might have been attached permanently - I'll have a go at easing it off. Is there anything that makes this easier - heat, hot water? And getting the rubber back on ans over the buld - washing-up liquid, vaseline?
