Just tested my winter tyres properly!!! - Bobbin Threadbare

We are covered in a blanket of snow up here in the NW. Winter tyres performed admirably on some quite slippy surfaces so Dunlop get a thumbs up from me.

By contrast ive been through the paperwork nonsense of getting the 406 dug out and legal for use only to get no snow at all!

Quite pleasant weather compared to the North to be honest, no doubt Bobbin will pop up and point out i'm a southern nancyboy :P

Yep. Southern nancyboy ;-)

I was fine last winter, and the one before, on my regular tyres (no ABS on the Focus either) but I am enjoying having the winter ones - I can sell them on with the car next year too when I go MX-5 shopping!

No problems with the Berlingo today, even on the steep hills near Farleigh/Selsdon and on the golf course.

Here in Kent it's cold & damp .... someone told me there was a little of the white stuff on the A249 but that was earlier this morning ... in my corner of the county I doubt there will even be a frost tonight.

Friend has an MX5.

On snow they are literally undriveable with summer tyres.

Too little weight and too much tyre area to get grip (his is a 2005 model - earlier ones may have narrower wheels).

His MX5 made a BMW look stable on snow :-)

Exactly. So I have a stylish and fun excuse not to go anywhere in Winter and just admire it adorning my driveway for the snowy months.

I've seen them driving around in the snow, carefully!

My head is telling me to buy the Mazda 2 or 3 as I really don't need a Mazda 6 sized car anyway, but I might go nuts and buy something absurd instead.

Ummmm...........going to pass on the Saab! I actually quite like them but I'd have to be nuts - who is going supply parts etc?!

I assume by broken up you mean 'from school' and not 'with Mr Bobbin'. So to the former, yes, I am on school holidays :-D
