With news that the Blackwall Tunnel will be subject to lane closures at times, there is a good argument for the Dartford Crossing tolls to be suspended whilst the games take place ... and the barriers be kept open so to help the flow of traffic.

Barriers open to facilitate passage of flying pigs seems more likely.

We were promised the tolls would be removed once the cost of building the thing was recouped. An argument for keeping them was they improved the flow of traffic.

It was in the Labour party manifesto to remove the tolls in the 90's like all political parties once in power they changed their minds. You should be able to hold to account the party promises made during elections as it is they say what we want to hear and then do the opposite.Imagine how much energy is wasted having to queue to pay the tolls and how much time is wasted.

Not true - the Scots fund their free bridges, free prescriptions, free higher education and subsidising their ferries by diverting funds already allocated to Scotland under the Barnett formula - the same formula that's used to allocate funds to English single tier local authorities.

If you don't like the way money is spent in England, blame the English politicians, both national and local.

I blame all politicians for most of the things that are wrong with the world, don't you?
