mercedes W202 1996 P reg 2.5TDi AUTO Saloon - ABS warning light on - Shripad.Sathe

Hello.

I have this car and the ABS light has now come on and refuses to go off, which is annoying and also dangerous!

This car has now done 180000 miles. What should I do apart from going to a mercedes benz dealer who may charge me more than the value of the car to check and repair this?

There are plenty of indepedant specialists that can interogate the systems diagnostic abilty.Just make sure they have the correct connector for the diagnostic socket as this car will not have the later obd 16 pin socket.hth

In ppactise, it is liely the nearside (passenger) fron t sensor has failed.. It's exposed to grit and mud.

A multimeter placed on the connections to it should read c 1.5 K Ohms. Zero = short. Infinite = broken wire.

I have done simple diiagnostics on ABS like that and it usually works...

Sorry if this comes through as a right daft question - but where are the connections that you are talking about please?

I shall give the car a check soon, have got a Hayes manual and I guess I need to get working as well.
