The dash to diesel courtesy of the CO2 lunacy has dropped petrol sales and pushed up diesel.
The oil industry can either: a) spend many hundreds of millions replacing refineries early with ones more suited to producing diesel via secondary cracking processes or b) push up the price of diesel and drop that of petrol to reduce demand for diesel and drive up demand for petrol at no cost to them
As they're not stupid, "b" is the preferred option.
