Is there some way the windows can get out of synch and need a reset? Maybe but don't think so.

I'd stick some WD40 down there by sneaking the red pipe past the window seal and spraying around, then give the switch some exercise, and see if pushing down a bit with rubber gloves helps. But I wouldn't try too long, you'll probably have to take it apart and fix a sticking clutch or a dodgy motor.
