Black Toyota Hiace - 'Private Ambulance' - mss1tw

Does anyone know when and where these vehicles get disposed of?

I can't think of a van that gets an easier life than one of these, never seen a building site!

I certainly am, the former use doesn't bother me in the slightest. I bet they're hardly run in.

'Removal Ambulances' (vans) or 'hearsettes' (estate cars)

Look on nafd.org.uk - they have a for sale section.

Otherwise, I assume the signwriting and internal fittings are removed and they get sold on.

Um, one could buy a dark coloured Alhambra or Sharan, wot was used for this very job, and never know!
Cos our local funeral director ran a bog standard Sharan for this very reason.
If for whatever reason a discreet removal was required.
The rest of the time it doubled up as the family car.

Discreet cars and vans aree also used for collecting bodies from a distance away - people don't like the sight of normal funeral vehicles bombing along the motorway.

I also remember a newspaper report where some people were upset that a couple of funeral workers stopped off at a motorway services. They need to take a break from their driving just like anyone else!
