ford fusion - 1.4 diesel engine good at high milage? - slither556

Hi,

I'm looking at buying a ford fusion 1.4 diesel with 77000 miles on the clock its on an 03 reg and has a full service history. anyone know weather this would be a good buy?as i am a bit aprehensive due to the high milage?

Before retirement my dad was a driving instructor, he owned two Fiesta 1.4TDCi s and both did well over 100,000 miles. My sister ran his last one until a few weeks ago. She has now traded it, but it had done 140,000 with no problems.

The mileage may be high but on an 8 year old car thats about right, if anything a bit below about right. Full service history as well, sounds fine, i wouldnt be worried about it from a mileage perspective.

I wouldnt recommend anybody buy a Ford Fusion though but thats just because i dont like them but its similar mechanically to the Fiesta davey is referring to, same TDCi engine i believe.

That's actually a little under average mileage for an 8 year old car. I'd be more worried if it only had 20k on the clock and stuff would start to conk out!

Well, at risk of spouting a generalisation here but that would suggest the Fusion has been owned by a more elderly person, or disabled person (motability car perhaps?) on a lower mileage if it had 20k on it. If it wasnt for their prescence in the motability list i dont think Ford wouldve shipped many at all really.
