Toyota Celica - Grinding noise on stopping - Bobbin Threadbare

Mr B has just had his back brake discs and pads replaced (he grudgingly paid up as he wouldn't have passed his MOT; the fanbelt was cack too but that's another story)

He is now concerned that, when he rolls to a stop without touching the brakes, he is stopping earlier than he should do and there's a graunching noise from the back brakes. He feels it's the brakes touching the wheel, but neither of us can see it, on either wheel. Obviously they'll expand when hot, but I don't reckon that'd do it.

I find it hard to believe that the garage would make them wonky etc.

Any ideas?
