206 2.0 Hdi - Squeaking/grating rear hub - Deedee85

Wondering if anybody can help me out... My offside rear wheel has started making a really loud and annoying squeaking noise. It happens pretty much whenever the car is in motion, but is even worse over bumps. It's not a constant squeak, just like a couple of times ever second.

Recently had a new wheel bearing fitted (2 weeks ago), so checked it was at the right torque and it was slightly low. Tightened it up and it stopped for about a mile. Fitted a new wheel bearing last night and after about half a mile, it was back worse than ever.

Completely clueless now as to what it can be. Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

Danny

Check that the brake caliper is parallel to the disc.

I have had several high milage PSA cars where electrolytic action between the caliper & the rear arm, helped by road salt, has forced the caliper out of line with the disc.

The disc then starts to rub against the caliper & makes an anoying squeek. Braking was unaffected.
