Car valuation service - catalyst2

Other than Glass's and Parker's (4 ou 5 quid each online if I'm not mistaken), are there any free and reliable valuation site out there? (it's for a Suzuki Jimny 2007). Any help greatly appreciated.

Try **WHAT CAR. co.uk**... it seems to be more realistic guide other than parkers... auto trader also does one...

Take it to three dealers see what they will give you for the car take the average that way you have a true valuation rather than a guesstiate.

Use Autotrader.

With the advanced search, set the criteria to closely match your car, and open the distance up to 200 miles to give you the biggest sample. Take the average from the list. Simples.

Unthrottled beat me to it. I use autotrader as a decent guide.

Its worth what someone will pay for it, so use Auto Trader to see what similar examples are selling for.

One for jamie to add a few choice words... met an elderly gentleman about to trade in his 26000 mile chevrolet epica lt, diesel auto, (complete with a set of gouges in the rear wing and lots of rusty chrome) and he asked what it would be worth, Nearly had a heart attack when I told him, but then I nearly had the heart attack when he told me he paid full list for the car PLUS reversing sensors and front sensors too, tyre pressure warning system, suregard extra carpets, to boot more than £20.000. OUCH!!!!!

(he is thinking of buying an insignia but will reflect now i have told him he won't be able to reach to pull down the rear hatch when open.)

That is the first person in 20 years that i have seen pay full list price!

That's quite sad actually.

But he must have plenty of money in his pocket to keep buying new cars, justto prang them.

Thanks to all, I'll use Autotrader then as the most realistic basis to work out price and will use it with dealers in a part-ex (against a Kia Sportage, sometime in next 3 months or so).

I take it dealers have their own trade book to determine value, right?

Part-Ex price will be determined by how desperate they are for a sale. You'll pay for the convenience of trading in somewhere in the equation. A high part-ex price is probably not a good omen.
