2008 vw caddy maxi life - engine management light problem - glascarmill

Hi Folks,

Here's my story. The engine management light came on a couple of days ago. I brought it to a mechanic who hooked it up to vag com. Under engine code faults the only one that appeared was for the front pas door not unlocking but it works fine. we did searched under the obd option and the following code fault was found.

kwp 2000 p0473. Exhaust pressure sensor circuit high input.

The code was cleared, light went off, but after driving for a few miles. it came back on again today. Sometimes it doesn't effect the driving at all but every so often there'd be a dip in power and then off it would go again. Its my wife's car and we've a new born on board so she won't drive it!

Help please. ta very much

sounds very much to me like the DPMF ( particulate filter ) is blocking up causing high back pressure in the exhaust or a sensor fault.

You may get away with a good trashing to put the ECU into regen mode.

It take about 20-25 mins of hard continuall driving around 2500rpm to get enough heat for the cat to burn off. Driving around town or very quick trip down a dual carrige way in the rush hour will not suffice.

cheers for the advice, gave that a go but no difference. When the car loses power the revs just die down until its about to stall. But once i use the clutch, the car resumes full power and drives fine and it won't happen again
