Nissan Primera IV - NIssan Primera P12 - Imperial or Metric? - squibsquib

Can anyone advise me if the bolts etc on the Nissan are Imperial or Metric size? I have a decent scoket set kit but doesn't seem to grip the nuts properly?

I have worked on P12's using a metric sockets and spanners without any problem I believe they went metric before the UK thats prior to 1972.

The bolts on the can seem to rust quite badly. Maybe that why. Even tried to bleed the brakes and tthe metric spanners would not grip it. Any advice for loosing rusted bolts?

If you can get to the end of them i.e they are not on a pipe, use the nearest but slightly smaller sized imperial spanner/socket and hammer it on, providing the thread has not rusted solid that will undo it. For pipes where you obviously cant fit anything over the nut, a small pair of stillsons or similar should work. Failing that, weld a larger nut over the top of the existing one, on a pipe cut a slot in the side so you can slip it over.

On reassembly give the threads a coat of waxoil, they will then come undone next time.
