CABIN FILTER...
HI. over the weekend I changed the fiter in my volvo, filter costs approx £15, and I change it every 12 months thats 15,000 miles. The filter new is white and when removed its black with bit of leaves etc....
service interval....my volvo manual doesn;t even list the pollen filter change, but the manual in another section on maintaining the car does mention re-newing them....guess its all down to your milage and location as to how dirty it gets...
on a impreza estate i once owned with a full dealer history the service manual had a list of items used on each service but didn't list a pollen filter, but reading the owners manual from cover to cover it mentions changing the filter,,,yet its not listed in the service items required.....so googled it,,,and found the location of the filter,,,in this case behind the glove box (6 secrews later) i had removed the filter that looked like an orignal part at 5 years old....full of rubbish,,,and carpet needed a hoover after that....stopped the front windscreen getting so mucky after the change...
the volvo filter takes 5 mins and 2 screws to replace. so its carried out yearly...
suppose in your case, change the filter and see how dirty it looks if its no bad may-be you can get away with changing it every other year.....
paul.
guess for a lot of owner they never bother chasing and seeing if the parts been replaced, bit like fuel filters, mines been replaced twice now,,,not due to mechanical issues but because the old ones had been on the car for a lot of years/miles...
