Has anyone going to Goodwood this year?

I just read this: www.telegraph.co.uk/motoring/goodwood-festival-of-...l

Now I can't get 'Driven by you' out of my head. Dammit.

Went a couple of years back...absolutely cracking day out. Keep promising to go back, but hasn't happened yet.

Great day out. Well worth a visit. I have been as a spectator twice and worked there ten years ago, also running Bruno Senna in an MP4/8 in 2009. I had also previously built the car we ran in 1993. A nice relaxed weekend, and was great to talk to genuine enthusiasts, rather than some of the morons you used to get at Silverstone( the people who are only interested in the hospitality, rather than whats happening on the track)

I keep reading all the articles in the DT and I'd really like to get down there some day.

Just got back from this years event. Up to the usual standard, unmissable. The massive sculpture outside Goowood house is quite extraordinary and the collections of cars gathered for display and demonstration are just what any enthusiast would want. The theme for the event is around Jaguar 'E' types and there is the most stunning version manufactured by a company called Eagle which is to die for. Th Cartier De Luxe collection was the highlight for me, but the Indianopolis cars cars were also great.

Do go, you would not be dissapointed.

So I went there on Sunday. Brilliant day. Amazing that you can stand right next to exotic machinery without railings or voices telling you not to touch. Glorious smells of methanol and burning oil, various revving race engines . Stood right next to an Auto Union V16 while it was being fired up. Ears ringing after that engine was blipped a few times. The engineering was fabulous, I loved the finned brake drums. Unfortunately I never saw it go up the hill, but various supercars, bikes and F1 cars were enjoyed. The crowd were pretty quiet when the last top twenty of the time trial were in action - I think the incredible noise and the speed just stunned people - 48 seconds to do 1.16 miles uphill for example. The F1 engines rev so high, it's surreal - you can hear them approaching in the distance as you stand by the track and it's a bit scary when everything else is quiet around you.

Loved it.
