Volkswagen Golf V - VW PD 105 - unthrottled

Does anyone (calling 659!) have detailed specs of this engine ie know what it shared with the myriad PD engines of 100, 115, 130, 150 output. I've struggled to find any decent information.

What information I have is contradictory especially regarding turbos. From what I gather, the aspiration is via an aftercooled Garrett 16 VNT. This seems like a lot of (expensive) kit to support a meagre 105hp from 1.9 litres. What size are the injectors?

VW are tight wads and it seems unlike them to throw expensive components at a job that could be carried out by cheaper ones. Are the pistons cheap castings?

I'm fairly sure the block, head and chunky internal bits are common across the 100 - 130bhp variants.

VW did make several changes for the 150bhp variant as I understand it (stronger rods, etc) but it was underused, only ever in the VW Golf / Bora and a couple of Seats IIRC.

EDIT - the engine codes you've posted are much more modern than my limited knowledge ... the above refers to the 8V 1.9 litre PD jobbies up to around 2006.

That's my problem! The informatin for the earlier engines is available. But theere is a dearth of good info on the last iteration.
