SEEMS TO BE A FAULT SO CANNOT POST A MESSAGE. ANYONE ELSE? HIT THE POST BUTTON AND IT COMES BACK TO AN EMPTY BOX. Anyway , Pears Transparent Soap, quintessentially 'English'. Folks buy it cos it reminds them of childhood etc. So why are the words 'MADE IN INDIA' written so small on the packet? Wrights Coal Tar Fragranced Soap (EU Directive banned use of coal tar in non-prescription goods):- the anti-septic is now tea-tree oil. It's nice enough and faithfull to the original. So why are the words 'MADE IN TURKEY' written so small on the packet? I suppose that if you have a heritage brand you can sell at a premium. Make it cheaply non Europe and you can double any profit.

I'm more concerned about the lack of coal tar. That is (was) the active ingredient. Speaking of coal tar-it's difficultt o buy proper creosote any more-because of the EU. And don't even get me started on 2010 VOC compliant oil paint. The white undercoat is all but unsusable. Yet again, another EU directive. The EU should concentrate on sorting out the PIGS and forget all these stupid directives.

Creosote stinks burns your skin not that pleasant to use is it.I don't know if there is phenol in it .

I like the smell, it's cost effective and it works. Phenols? Don't know, don't care. It's like lead in paint, if you don't like it, don't use it. Doesn't mean no one else should be allowed to. If we could still get decent paint, it might slow the advance of those awful PVCu windows and doors-which contain lots of PAHs, PCBs etc and are a landfill nightmare. As well as making old properties look awful.

Seems to be a recurring fault. The way round is to when you get to the reply page to type your reply, press enter before anything else and it'll drop a line as it were, then type, then send.

No creosote? I used to paint our fences with old engine oil mixed with paraffin, they never rotted! Re cycling at it's best.
That should wake up all the environmentalists...

Well chaps, phenol is just an aromatic hexagonal ring, bonded to a hydroxyl group. It is soluble in water. Also called carbolic acid. It can cause burns.

I only point these things out because Jamie likes to know the specifics.

Jamie745 - trying your advice and making a hash of it. Hopefully this will do it.

Thanks Jamie for the hint above. Dwight van Driver has had a similar problem on the legal section - our developer thinks it's because he's writing his post in Word and copying and pasting on to here. Is the good Councillor doing this too perhaps?

Anyway, if you have a problem try Jamie's hint. I can't replicate the problem myself but I type straight on to this site.

no not cut and paste or word - just typing on this site. but to post or comment I have to:- click on subject the hit the 'little arrows key' shift? which goes to quote prev message, then again which comes into this box, and then hit return as per VERY HELPFUL TIP. If I don't go through all of this pallaver then comment or post wont appear and comes back to empty message box. This site wasn't made by Peugeot was it?

Personally, of the two, I really like Wrights Coal Tar 'fragrance' Soap.
