Classic Car show - Bobbin Threadbare

Howdy. I have been to the Hoghton Tower classic car show today. Hoghton Tower is near Preston in Lancs and it is where King Charles knighted a decent bit of loin steak to get 'sirloin'.

I took a load of photos: www.flickr.com/photos/64127830@N03/sets/7215762705.../

Please, feel free to comment (I think Flickr will let you type comments in there too). There's a couple of vehicles I wasn't sure about so if anyone can tell me what they are, thanks in advance.

Alas, Flickr wants you to join so we can't annotate your pictures.

The E type looks like a 2+2-the linees are just ungainly compared to the 2 seater.

The Cobra is nice-side pipes are a really nice detail!

What a handsome car the 70's Celica is. With apologies to mr Bobbin (why not Threadbare?), the current one is aesthetically bland.

1st generation mustangs are always beautiful-later ones put on weight and lost their way.

There is a very serious omission to your collection, however. I see no mention of the Peugeot 406 2.0 auto. Remiss of you, Bobbin, remiss.

>> I wasn't sure if it was a replica actually. Hard to tell.

>> Threadbare might be my maiden name :-P

>> Cheeky.

The Cobra almost certainly is a replica. Still it's a nice one. A maiden nom de plume? Really!

What was your car of the show?

P.S. The organisers of Hoghton car show would like to apologise for the lack of 406's. Apparently 3 were expected, but all suffered 'unforeseen technical difficulties' en route.

Car of the show was the purple Triumph GT6. I want one!

>>Triumph GT6

Weak gearbox, weak diff and weak floor (before I weighed what I am now).

I had to repair the first, fit a new planet wheel carrier to the second and have the third welded up.

They do look incredibly sexy!

Thank you so much for these, Bobbin. It's a sign of advancing age when classic cars look young!

For me a real classic is one that's older than I am (b. 1948) - so I loved the graceful late 30's MG (SA or WA) and the 40's Riley, with the fine old two-letter / four-figure registration no. that showed that Bury (EN) had still not issued enough to start the AEN series.

Tom - I know, I know. But it's purple!!!!

The real oldie in best nick I think was that MG, but again it either was a replica or it had been done over with modern paint.

Easy way to tell if a Cobra is a replica or not?

look at the tax disc

Could have used a pre '73 Chassis as a donor car though...
