Jaguar x-type 2.0 - Glow plug light and loss of power - mm707

Hi,

Does anyone know what may cause this ? The glow plug light comes on and there is a lack of power - switch it off and restart and it seems to be ok for a while. It happens a lot when the car has just started but also happens a couple of times a week while driving.

We did have the egr valve cleaned out about 6 months ago as it was bunged up.

Could be a number of things but turbo actuator is a common faul and gives the exact problems you are having.

quite correct, but also worth checking the wiring to the air flow meter as on the wires are prone to breaking internally at the plug of the AFM, this is a known issue ! Has the fuel filter been replaced recently? A diagnostic check may reveal some codes to put you in the right direction

Get a diagnostic check. These are also symptons of EGR failure which will show as a fault code.

Got a diagnostic check and showing no error codes.

Chap at the garage says it just needs a good thrash up the motorway now and then as it's currently only being used for short journeys.
