FIAT Punto 1.2 dualogic 54 plate - Dualogic gearbox diplaying fault - wanderer 2011

Just after buying (3 weeks) problems started with GEARBOX FAIL coming on in display. Also gearbox warning light. Also when putting foot on brake pedal, display goes from D to R for a second but gives 3 beeps as if in reverse. Car drives OK and neither dealer or autobox specialist can find a fault, as it wasn't showing when they had it back for a full week. Now on getting it back it is worse than ever and doing it all the time. Please help!

I have seen a few erratic faults related to the auto transmission caused by poor earthing to the rear light clusters. The rear lights appear to function ok,but there is a very slight voltage drop on the system that causes problems with the gearbox.Remove both rear light units and check the multi-pin connectors attached to the bulb holders. If there is any possible evidence of poor connections or an overheat /burnt terminal,I would run new earth leads directly onto the bulb contact plate.Certainly worth a try.hth.
