Nissan Primera 1.6 lx 1996 - Oil dipstick stuck - colin cc
Hi

I cannot remove the oil dipstick to check the oil level it twists in the pipe and moves out a few mm, anyone have any suggestions on how to remove it??

Just pull very hard,it is not a threaded part.

Clearly you tried all the wiggling, have you tried with engine hot and cold as metals expand at different rates so might be freer when hot or cold

A bit extreme but you should be able to remove the tube from the engine block, might be a bit tricky and need to strip some other components off to get to it.

Try pipe freezer spray on the dipstick end: the metal will contract and should move more easily.

Warning : use THICK gloves or you will lose much skin.

Engines been at idling temp when tried will try when cold see if makes any difference

Will try with cold engine it has been hot when I tried before

Got it, looks like part of the plastic handle has broken off where it conacts to the metal and had jammed in the pipe, took an almighty heave while engine was cold and it shifted.
