Why would a PETROL engine smoke because of a failed turbo?

It's a broken Saab. Saab are bankrupt and the bloke wants shot of it.

Why would a PETROL engine smoke because of a failed turbo?

Oil seals fail in turbo and drags oil from the bearings into the engine and smokes like a pig on a bbq.

New turbo requires as bearings get dry and vanes wear out.

Petrols invariably use fixed nozzle turbines-no vanes to 'wear out'.
Burning oil tends to form blue smoke in petrols.
Could just be a poorly described problem.

If it only wants a turbo why does he not fix it himself I would be very wary.

Two phrases come to mind:

Caveat emptor (= buyer beware)

If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

The website is full of cars needing repairs.

The details of the turbo are carefully added at the end so the unwary do not realise the advert is longer and don't click on "more" to see it all.

Obviously an expert in selling carp. SAABs have lots of well known and expensive failings: buying one with an obvious fault is for those with either another one for bits or more money than sense...

Bet it's not "immaculate" as described. Immaculate means as new...
