Scenic 00 plate 1.9 diesel - Scenic Sunroof stops 1cm before fully closed - OldFartUK

Rear Sunroof works fine. Front Sunroof opens all the way, but on closing stops just as it descending , leaving a 1cm gap. You can stick a hex key into the motor socket, and 3/4 turn anticlock shuts it.

Whats the solution to this?

How does the motor connect to the drive mechanism that pushes the roof? Is there a torx/spline shaft coming out he motor driving the sunroof mechanism?

I get this idea what it needs is the motor taking out backing off 3/4 turn clock wise, then placing back in situ. Being now 3/4 turn retarded, it should reach zero point as the sunroof shuts fully. or wouldn't that work ?

Or is there a way to make it carry on running that last 3/4 turn, and reset the zero point ?

Sounds more like a software problem!

These usually have a continous rotation motor and the stop position might have got confused. On my car you apparently hold the close button for several seconds (10?) and then let it press close completely and stop by itself. Then it memorises the new stop position. Worth a try.

Ok ive got the solution.

Buy another motor, £10 at the scrappy. Remove the motor from the gearbox, discard. What you have now is a sunroof mechanism adjusting tool.

Open then close the sunroof, till the motor stops. That is where it thinks closed is. Take the three bolts out the sunroof motor, let it dangle out the way. Bolt the spare gearbox in place. Now turn the hex socket hole in the centre of the gear box and manually close the sunroof.

Now remove the gearbox and bolt the original motor back in place. the motor closed stop now coincides with the sunroof closed stop, and should open and close fully.

Worked for me. How come not one single person on the internet came up with this solution, in 10 years the Scenic has been out and having this fault ?
