I note on the HMRC website a change in the mileage expense rate for business travel in employees' own vehicles - effective 6th April 2011.
"For tax purposes: 45p for the first 10,000 business miles in a tax year, then 25p for each subsequent mile For NICs purposes: 45p for all business miles"
This is good news for anyone who drives their own car for employer's business, as they are now allowed to be paid 5p a mile more without any tax / NI to worry about. For more info see http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/paye/exb/a-z/m/mileage-expenses.htm
