Alfa Romeo Giulietta - Looking for a company car - johnweet

Having opted to take cash in lieu of a company car about 8 years ago I have just taken a new job and will be opting back in. I am looking for a new car but am not up to speed with what is out there. The car policy says it must be a 4 door and the emissions are capped at 160.

I am looking for something with much lower emissions to keep my personal tax code down but also looking for something that is fun to drive. This will be a second car and I will be the only person in it most of the time. I will cover approx 20-30K miles per year and it would probbaly make sense to have a diesel. To get an idea of value I could have a Passat estate or a Vauxhall insignia. I have looked at the Alfa Romeo Giulietta, the new Ford Focus and a high spec Volvo S40.

I would appreciate any other ideas.

www.comcar.co.uk is the best place to start.

My recommendation would be to avoid a diesel because of the 3% BIK surcharge and higher list price.

So mid range petrol. The Alfa you suggest is good, also consider Golf/Jetta 160 TSI and new Ford Focus 150 ecoboost. VW is the only one that is available as an auto at the moment.

However, there are some very good deals on Mercedes at the moment. You can get one for under £300 a month.

Best wishes

Peter

If the OP plans on doing 20-30k per year than a diesel might make more sense. A Giulietta is a great car and you won't see them everywhere unlike the focus and golf....
