Don ot spend £-400 on sealant.

Buy some quality polish and wax (say £3-40 worth) or get it valeted for £50-60 every 6 months - both are better than paying £3-400 upfront

Hello.

A new car I would use a wax regulay to look after the paintwork.

For new paint, a non-abrasive sealant such as Turtle Wax Platinum Extra Gloss would be fine if you wanted to further protect your paintwork. I applied it to a new Audi A6 last autumn before the harsh winter set in. The paintwork still beads water as if the sealant had just been applied. In the spring I'll polish the car with something like Autoglym Super Resin polish and then apply another layer of Platinum Extra Gloss as a final step. I've found it to work really well, keeping the paintwork shiny and proving very durable on a range of cars I've looked after over the years.

I suppose it depends how much you want to spend etc., but I think sealant is likely to suit you best. You can get good sealants for less than £20.

I've used Zaino Z2, it smells nice, is easy to use, but I put a wax on top of it, so it's hard to comment on the finish. If you want durability, and don't want to spend huge amounts of money, then a sealant like this should be a good buy.

The price of wax varies a lot. There's probably not much point spending loads of money unless you're going to prep the paintwork correctly with polish.

Giving the car a light polish before applying the wax/sealant is likely to make quite a big difference too.

Doesn't really matter. Let's face it you're buying a new car so in 2-3 years time you'll be buying another. Leave the nice details to the plebs who still think buying second hand is the way to go.
Let them worry about the paintwork! Thrash it while youve got the warrantee.

@Craigdm

Are you being serious? Firstly to just assume that the OP will buy a new car in 2-3 years time is frankly absurd, you don't know if the OP is planning to keep the car for longer than 2-3 years.

Secondly taking care of your paintwork can obviously add more value to the car when selling the car on, than a car with wrecked dull paintwork.

Oh and the "warrantee" covers paintwork scratches does it?

Depends on the colour, how often you can top it up and how much time and money you want to spend on it. Autogylm SRP and ERP are pretty good, or their HD wax instead of the ERP.

I've always used Autoglym polishes on my cars - two coats of resin polish and one of extra gloss protection twice a year. When I got my latest car I was offered the "Lifeshine" treatment for (I think £350), rather fancied the upholstory protection but baulked at the price.

Off to ebay - Lifeshine kits are available on here for between £12 and £30 got one of these and spent a day putting it on (good instructions in the kit) and the polish does hold better and last longer. Don't rate the glass polish though.

If you've got a day to spare think about doing it this way.

NB there are some comments on ebay about Lifeshine kits from embittered valeters who can sea easy money not coming their way - ignore them and do it yourself - I did!!
