In my day (1985-2006) we didn't have "Kylie flaps",(maybe a very recent idea) but we had lots of other strange but aptly named parts. The nicknames for parts always came from ourselves(mechanics) on the cars and proved quite useful, especially when certain teams( red cars!) used to listen in on our radio transmissions. One of my favourites despite being a pig to fit, were the "pizzas"- which was a large circular disc of tungsten ballast the size of a family pizza which varied in thickness. each one weighed between 40-60kg, fitted underneath the fuel tank and we changed to adjust the balance of the car.
