Toyota Estima Lucida - Looking to buy - FrazzledMom

New to forums so hello.

Am looking to purchase a toyota estima on ebay, wanted peeps advice before going ahead. Bot sure if I am allowed to post links but the user id of the car i am looking at is raganbone2009.

My question is, the boot isn't working properly, will this cost me a lot to get repaired as the car itself looks good and has low mileage. I need to know a ball park figure for getting it repaired and also what a realistic price I should be paying for the car itself.

It is an M Reg and has 75000 miles on the clock.

Any help??

I don't believe the Estima has been officially sold in this country. it is what we know as a Toyota Previa, but called Estima in Japan and Australia.

You might want to check if is just a Previa with a different name badge, or does it have other differences where you will have problems getting spares etc

I would suggest you look on one of the Estima forums a friend bought one it was the Bees Knees for a few weeks till the cylinder head parted company with the block.

I had one of these some years ago. On the plus side it was a cheap, spacious, robust and versatile people carrier with a good driving position.

On the minus side was heavy thirst (25mpg from the diesel) and the dreaded cylinder head failures. They all go. Mine went twice, the second time damaging the top of the block, despite religiously checking the coolant levels, flushing the radiator and changing the oil every 3000 miles.

Although we loved the car it cost me several thousand pounds in repairs and eventual reduction to scrap value only in a couple of years.

Sorry to burst your bubble but walk away.

Neighbours of ours had one a few years ago. Again a diesel which needed a costly repair. Also it is slightly smaller than the Previa so I don't think the parts are interchangeable. It too was an M reg.
