Whats so wrong with the VR6? - googolplex
Given the high frequency of VR6 posts in "technical matters" should we conclude that its a bad buy?
Either way, there's obviously loads of VR6 owners out there...

I'm interested to know the answer to your question too since i wouldn't mind calling one in before they get too old and have all been 'got at'. Does anyone know how prevalent the head gasket problem is ?

VR6?

Don't bother. I had one earlier this year and thought it one of the most over-rated cars I have ever driven. Performance in a straight line was ok but nothing to get excited about, the handling (and this one had been stiffened) was soft, wallowy with massive understeer due to far too much weight over the front. Maybe I would'nt have minded if it had been a refined motorway car which it was'nt either. I took a MkII 8v in part ex against it which was superb by comparison. A far better MkIII is the 16v Gti.
