Paranoia or good parctice?

I did.

I suppose it may help to prevent the one you're selling being cloned, but if you're flogging it, do you care if it's cloned?

If anyone's seriously interested in buying, then you're going to give them the full V5 details for an HPI check.

Good practice..

Anything that makes life a tiny bit harder for car criminals has to be a good thing. Otherwise all the have to do is look thro autotrader for a similar car to the one they have just nicked for the new reg number.

Paranoia, unless you have something to hide. It's easy enough to walk down the street and find a reg number if you're into cloning.

I think it is completely stupid to blur the number plates

If you are really interested in buying that car, you will need to ask for the reg. mark to do your HPI check. Blurring does not make it any harder for criminals, it just further the suspicion that the car being sold is cloned.
