vw carravelle 2.4 diesel - cambelt squealing - doghead

im thinking of buying the above vehicle with the following advertised problems, should i steer clear or are they easy enough to put right,

cam belt squealing

off side anti roll bar and drop link bush require changing

What are your mechanical abilities or have you a friendly,cheap&capable local mechanic??

i can do some mechanical work(getting a bit old though ! ha ha ) i do know a cheap friendly mechanic.

2002 2.5 tdi 124,000 mls £4600

Sorry for delay Dave,only just got back online.Is it still up for grabs?
You need to find out if there`s any service history and receipts for cam-belt replacement items..... especially the idler/tensioner pulleys,if my memory serves me right.
Of course it may be the auxiliary belt/idler that is squealing?"Screwdriver to the ear" job!Maybe this belt requires tensioning?

I'd be quite worried if a toothed belt was squealing...

Almost certainly the auxillary belt-confusingly referred to as the fan belt.
