Did you use a non-permanent sealant when fitting,if so might as well have used grease or oil!Did you clean all oil from seal housing before fitting new seal and not handle new seal with oily hands?
Probably not a good idea to reuse the seal which has popped out as it may now be damaged.
When fitting your new seal, use a thin smear of permanent Loctite-type sealing compound on the seal outer face and the housing, but make sure there is absolutely no oil around(apart from touch of oil on inner face),clean seal housing with thinners before smearing with Loctite.Have used this method on all 2&4-stroke engines over the years except for seals&their housings which are fitted with locating ridges which stops lateral movement of seal.
....of course might just be some pressure build-up within the engine which has caused seal to pop in which case you have a bigger job on your hands!
