It's just that I've seen a car advertised which has had half it's services carried out by Nationwide. I was wondering if anyone has had experience of Nationwide?

I have used nationwide and found them to be as good as any, there will always be good or bad fitters. My only caveat would be to be very specific about what you want, specify that you want an OEM service using OEM parts or a superior equivalent.
I would iterate the point about VAG indies, most seem to be ex VW staff, at a fraction of the cost

If the car you're looking as has VW's Tdi PD engine, these require special oil.

I suspect Nationwide would just use the same bulk oil they use in all the other cars although I may be doing them a disservice.

You could ring the branch & ask what oil they use & if aware of the different requirements for this engine.

If the wrong oil is used cam wear will result.

I had my 4 year old Vauxhall Signum serviced by Nationwide, they identified it as needing fully synthetic oil and charged accordingly. No complaints with the work, they were only £30 or so cheaper than a main dealer, though in the case of Audi it would be a more significant saving.

Certainly wouldn't use them for a car still under warranty.
