I notice the offical mpg for the premium model is 48.7 (combined), just out of interest for those who have the 1.7 versions what is your avergage MPG?

Have been to see the car at the dealership and its top of my list.

Thanks

Picked up IX35 1.7CRDI Premium + Media yesterday, and have driven just over 100 miles of mixed driving. Trip computer been drifting between 47 and 48 mpg which is a nice surprise, only a couple of mpg less than focus1.8TDCi! Doing a 1000 mile round trip from London to Scotland next week, will update again after.

PS - Loving the car so far :)

Thank you for that reply

My astra sports hatch 1.7 cdti is giving me an avergage of 48/49 combined with the offical figures being around 55/56.

I am looking for what ix35 1.7crdi owners are getting on average as I am tempted to opt for the 1.7CRDI Premium with ISG as this is supposed to give around 5 mpg more (not that I expect that mind)

My 1.7CRDi Premium has just clocked 220miles now. that mileage consists of 30% motorway, 20% b roads and 50% city driving. The onboard MPG reader is saying a remarkable 43.2mpg!!! If the miles till empty reading is correct we are on course to get 510miles from the 1st tank, which I am more than happy with for a the 1st tank on a brand new car.

Its far more economical than my Mk 4 Mondeo TDCi ever was, and the engine and power delivery so much more linear and smooth. The Mondeo always suffered lag and then a surge when pulling away from stationary, the IX35's flat torque curve from 1250rpm is completely lag free. Its geared slightly low but never feels strained and is extremely quiet in the cabin.

I've not driven a 2.0CRDi but more than happy with the performance and mpg from the 1.7 engine. I'd recommend anyone to take a test drive and see for themselves.

Hi, picked up my ix35 1.7 crdi premium in December, and have been very pleased with the car. So far I have driven the car for over 1300 miles. On my last run down to Cornwall from Hampshire the car achieved at best 58.3 mpg on the a30 near Exeter. The trip computer was showing average of 54 mpg over the journey. During the journey I switched off the air con, and had some fun driving using the cruise control buttons on steering wheel. set the cruise control to 60 mph and tried to avoid pressing the brake pedal where possible.

Considering the size and shape of the car, I'm impressed with power and economy delivered by the ix35 when paired with this 1.7 diesel unit.

thanks for that.

Looks like the 1.7 is nearing the offical mpg better then the 2.0

Bit of an update ..... nerdy post alert!!!

Our 1.7 CRDi has done just over 700 miles now.

We have done mainly city driving and the mpg has never dropped below 42mpg.

We did a 160 mile round trip to London today ..... 70 miles on motorway and 10 miles into London itself.

I drove the outward journey at a steady indicated 75mph all the way and got an indicated 42.9mpg at our destination.

My wife drove the return journey at a steady indicted 70mph using the cruise control and got an indicated 42.8mpg when we got home.

At 70 -75 we are getting high 40's and the cruise control makes little to no difference to the mpg. Urban driving delivers 40+mpg but i don't tend to go much over 2000rpm.

50+ is achievable on motorway journeys but you would need to do 60 - 65mph max to achieve this.

High 40's mpg at 70 -75mph which is my normal motorway speed is fine by me!

Noticed the speedo is quite accurate on the iX35 against the sat nav. An indicted 70mph was 68mph on the sat nav, An indicted 75mph had the sat nav switching constantly between 72/73mph.

Nerd mode off ............ I drive my iX35 how I drive any other car and really enjoy it, highly recommended to anyone!!

ok - now up to 1800 miles and things a little different... fuel economy pretty consistent, but performance has improved. When I first drove the car (11 miles on clock) I thought the engine was a bit flat/boring, but it's noticably more perky now, most apparent improvement in 2nd, 3rd and 4th gears.

My main driving is split equaly between, twisty country roads, 50mph A roads, motorway, and crawling stop/start traffic and I'm averaging ~49 mpg.

Fast motorway driving sees fuel economy nose dive - I'm get about 39mpg on a long drive.

Just went 172 mile since getting the car last Wednesday and seen on the trip an average of 58.8mpg. That in my books is a smiley face and I guess it can only get better?
