Just wondering a bit about some of the contributors and their connection to Honest John, Lucybc, What is your business connection to the site, I see that you often refer people to advisors, Avant where are you, tell us poor mortals a bit about yourself, and Star of the show Andy Bairsto are you really in Germany, let us know... Just in case, i have found the site helpful at times but also some of the unresearched replies bizarre. Can HJ ask manufacturers to post information too?

Ps noticing the problems with Vag injectors on this site, will steer clear of any vag diesel from now on, but does anyone yet have any issues with the small engined high power turbos vag are using, IE oil consumption, wear and tear etc..

Happy motoring

Andy, how's the glass factory which makes the Phaetons doing? A few years ago I made a pilgrimage to Dresden to worship the cut-away working model of the W12 on its shining pedestal. ....thence to the crypt to be transported during a virtual driving experience. [not mentioned in the guide books!].

Do you know anything about this engine's reliability? I was struck by the flimsiness of its timing chains which seemed scarcely more robust than my bicycle chain!

Are you able to enlighten the forum on the bizarre replies? Or the connections to Lucy or HJ? Should stimulate some interesting threads.

Happy to update you as far as I can, bearing in mind that we don't have any personal knowledge of our contributors beyond what you tell us.

Honest John (HJ) owns and operates the whole website, and he has a small number of staff who help him run his wide-ranging business as a motoring expert and consultant (I presume you are aware of and read his advice column in the Telegraph motoring section each Saturday). This forum, as you can see from the site headings, is a part of the service provided by the website, the adverts being as you might imagine a financial necessity. Do look at those headings if you are new to us: there is a wealth of information there (e.g. car reviews, road tests and FAQs).

I am one of the moderators, as are my colleagues Boris the Spider and Well-Known Sid. We are reasonably easy-going and want to encourage discussion, but we have to censor bad language by means of a swear filter, and we edit or delete posts which we think are offensive, rude or unhelpful (thanks to your good judgement this is rare). We also censor unsolicited advertising.

Lucy Bonham-Carter is a highly experienced lawyer specialising in motoring and insurance issues who has an arrangement with HJ to provide legal advice free of charge to members of the forum.

As far as your contributions go, for obvious reasons the forum can't be responsible for what you say, and we are simply very grateful to those who offer advice to others in difficulty, whether or not they are qualified or experienced.

I hope that's helpful.

Andy - an odd request but I am trying to repair patches in my aging memory. What is the name of the former concentration camp near Dresden? I was taken there in 1970 but have totally forgotten.

http://www.buchenwald.de/index_en.html

Or the famous POW camp Colditz.

I have been to Buchenwald not a nice place.

I have never seen a concentration kamp but I have worked with people who have been in one and came out tattoos numbers on their arms. Its all in the past now and we have to move on .Reminds me of a man a fire officer who gave me fire fighting training Stan he has past away a while ago.He was a ex SAS man. When he retired management wanted him to parade around with his medals.Stan refused he told me he had seen and done enough horrors in the war no more for him.
