Toyota Avensis 1.8 VVti - Oil consumption problem - lucklesspedestrian

Hi there

Thinking about buying a 55 or 06 or thereabouts Toyota Avensis 1.8 VVti petrol before too long. Does anyone know for sure if the well publicised problem with excessive oil consumption on the VVti engines was sorted by Toyota by that time?

i have read that the earleir corolla had a similair issue but my neighbour has one that he has owned for years and not been a problem....

my advice would be to check carefully, check oil level and ask questions to find out if the car uses any oil?

If it has a full Toyota sh, then it has either been fixed .. or if it gives problems, Toyota will change the engine... based on others' experiences.

If no service history? Run away.

Good advice and also check the service book is genuine to many fakes about check with the agents stamped in the book that they know the car.
