passat 130 PD - Quantum 3 507.00 - bk.bas
Having just bouught this 130PD PAssat I am bogged down in the oil saga. All a bit new to me as the old Passat 20V petrol just used tripleR synthetic and has always been fine. Suddenly I am faced with having to get a very specific grade of oil. I have researched my local autofactors and am looking at about £50 for 5L of comma or similar, but on fleabay I can get 5L of Quantum longlife 3 507 for £32. Is this stuff any good? Sure it must be if it meets the VW spec but just checking to see who uses it

Quantum is the Vag parts after market brand. This is what the vw dealer will sell over the counter when you ask for oil.hth

I do not think you should use 507 oil in a PD engine. PD engines need a very specific oil and nothing else, which I think is 506 but I and not sure. 507 oil is for VW CR engines.

I have just checked in my Haynes manual and they say Standard service interval 505 01 without particulate filter, 507 or better with P. filter. Longlife service without P. filter 506 01 or 507, or 507 with P. filter. So it would seem 507 is ok, sorry about my mistake.

Quantum 507 is the correct oil for a 130PD, no iffs or buts.
