Any reason so many (very) old threads are getting dug back up?

Just start a new one!!!

I reckon one reason is that people do a general search for a particular subject (eg Corsa camshafts) and find themselves on this site where their topic is being mentioned. So they fire in their own question, without noticing that the last message was 3 years earlier.

And then there's the spammers who are trying to sell something, so they search around for references to something similar to their product, and then post their own advert

I'm sure that's right , AS. As moderators we try to spot and hide the spam, and it's helpful when people report it to us via moderators@honestjohn.co.uk.

There's nothing wrong with resurrecting a thread if there's something interesting to add, but it's a waste of time helpfully trying to answer a question asked several years ago!
