Which to buy? Polo or Ibiza or... - Wronskian

Another 'which car to buy' post, I'm afraid. I'm taken by the VW group's 1.2 TSI engine (105bhp, good performance, good economy). This is available on the VW Polo and the SEAT Ibiza. I was looking to spend around £12k new, so the SEAT is within the budget but the Polo's a little bit more (judging by broker prices).

Buying new, what would you go for? I'm looking for a decent driving car (daily commute is 18 miles each way, semi-rural roads) but reasonably practical for reliability, servicing, economy etc.

Cheers,
Sam

You have not said how long you intend to keep the car as I am sure the Polo will retain a higher percentage of its initial cost at trade in time.

You should also consider the VW service package of 3 years franchised VW dealer service for £250 - note this can only be bought through a VW dealer.

I'd be looking to keep the car for 4-5 years. The £250 3yr service package is a great deal - although SEAT are doing 0% VAT so there's a benefit either way! True about the residuals...

Having done some sit-in tests at the dealer, the Polo feels a bit classier; the Ibiza is rather plasticy.

What about a Skoda Octavia 1.2 TSI SE - target price of £12.1 k according to what car and probably a nicer drive than the smaller Polo/Ibiza

What about Skoda Yeti 1.2 TSI? I drove one of these recently - brilliant fun and reasonable space in rear and ok in boot, so practical.
