Alfa romeo MITO - Collos25

Just been watching a motoring program on N24 and it explained what the word Mito means, its actually short for Milan and Torino where they apparently make them.

Piece of useless information.

They must have been reading HJ's road test:

"First, it's not "Me Too", it's "Me Toe".

An amalgamation of the cities of Milano, where Alfa Romeos comes from, and Torino, where the MiTo is built.

It also, rather handily, means "myth" in Italian, which could be a little bit unfortunate for a car that blends elements of the magnificent, contemporary Alfa Romeo 8C, and the cute little Giulietta Sprint of the early 1960s, yet is really a FIAT underneath."

What did the Alfa say to the MG when the MG said "I'm always breaking down" ............

............. "Me Too"

:) :) :)

Jokes galore.

It's a pity that Alfa and some others have such a long standing unfortunate reputation for their cars and dealers/after sales. It really makes people like me who like the look of the Mito and Guilietta think "head v heart" when it comes to choosing the next car.

They look so right, but if they start breaking down/falling apart too soon, then, well, everyone will say "told you so."

Shame.

I think it was going to be called 'Milano' but the workers in Turin objected.

Subjectively it looks to me as if Fiats and Alfas are the subject of fewer complaints on this forum than they used to - indeed there are plenty of other makes which feature more often.

The problem is now that according to most road tests, Alfas are less fun to drive than before - and driving fun was supposed to be the whole point of an Alfa. I sat in a Giulietta in a showroom the other day but I wouldn't pay over £20k and get a car with nowhere to put my left foot when off the clutch.
