FIAT Grande Punto 1.2 8v - Alternator replacement - TedCrilly

Need to replace an alternator on the above. A quick look and it would appear the A/C compressor and its pipe work also has to come off to gain access to the alternator fixings. I am thinking it might be possible to slacken the compressor fixings and hold it off its mounting just enough to give access to the alternator fixing without disconecting any of the pipe work and having to re-gas the A/C.

Anyone got any experiences/thoughts/comments before I make the call?

Hello Ted,

Can you tell me a little more about how you got this done? I need to take out the alternator in a 2006 FIAT Grande Punto, also a 1.2 8v with aircon and it looks damn near impossible, i say damn near because i will have to get it done one way or the other but would like to speak to you about how you did yours.

At first glance i dont see how to get at the compressors lower mountings, top one was easy sure but there is so little room back there for the others. This saturday i plan on taking all the top engine mountings air/ducts etc. off to try and gain access from the right side.

Hopefully you can get back to me, hell... even give me a call if you can, i am on O seven 817 eight nine three 132.

Cheers, Tonino
